Spanish Numbers Game
1. Numbers from 0 to 9 (the foundation)
These are the base numbers. Almost every other number is built from them.
| Number | Spanish |
|---|---|
| 0 | cero |
| 1 | uno |
| 2 | dos |
| 3 | tres |
| 4 | cuatro |
| 5 | cinco |
| 6 | seis |
| 7 | siete |
| 8 | ocho |
| 9 | nueve |
👉 Tip: If you master these, you already know most of the system.
2. Numbers from 10 to 15: special forms
These numbers don’t follow a clear rule, so they must be learned as they are.
| Number | Spanish |
|---|---|
| 10 | diez |
| 11 | once |
| 12 | doce |
| 13 | trece |
| 14 | catorce |
| 15 | quince |
📌 Once, doce, and trece are not related to English — don’t try to guess them.
3. Numbers from 16 to 19: the first pattern
Here we get a helpful rule:
10 + number → combined into one word
| Number | Spanish |
|---|---|
| 16 | dieciséis |
| 17 | diecisiete |
| 18 | dieciocho |
| 19 | diecinueve |
Notice:
- They all start with dieci-
- Dieciséis has an accent mark
4. The number 20 and the “veinti-” group
| Number | Spanish |
|---|---|
| 20 | veinte |
From 21 to 29, Spanish joins the words together:
| Number | Spanish |
|---|---|
| 21 | veintiuno |
| 22 | veintidós |
| 23 | veintitrés |
| 24 | veinticuatro |
| 25 | veinticinco |
📌 Many of these have accent marks: veintidós, veintitrés, veintiséis.
5. Tens: 30, 40, 50…
These are very regular and easy to remember:
| Number | Spanish |

| 40 | cuarenta |
| 50 | cincuenta |
| 60 | sesenta |
| 70 | setenta |
| 80 | ochenta |
| 90 | noventa |
* When they stand alone, they do not use “y”.
