Las pequeñas cosas
Entrada 1 – Las pequeñas cosas
Entry 1 – The little things
Today we’re going to talk about the little things.
And I don’t mean small in size, but rather the small details, the little things in our lives.
Last week I didn’t cry, but I was sad.
I could say I slipped into a bit of depression, but it wasn’t depression, because it wasn’t that serious.
Hacía tiempo que no me pasaba eso.
It had been a long time since that had happened to me.
Todo eran problemas: no quería grabar vídeos, no quería editar, no quería escribir, no sentía motivación alguna y aunque intentara empezar a hacer algo, surgía un problema nuevo que me hacía retroceder.
Everything felt like a problem: I didn’t want to record videos, I didn’t want to edit, I didn’t want to write, I felt no motivation at all, and even when I tried to start doing something, a new problem would come up and make me step back.
Now that a few days have passed, I know the reason for my mood: hormones.
Of course, my period was announcing its arrival, but even though part of me suspected it, at that moment I blamed my lack of motivation on a temporary existential crisis that I had to get out of no matter what.
Nobody likes being depressed and sad (at least as far as I know), and I’m the first to hate being sad.
I tell myself that it makes no sense to be sad, that nothing has happened to me, and I look for ways to recover the motivation that has run away.
Pero nunca es tan fácil.
But it’s never that easy.
A decir verdad, yo pocas veces me encuentro triste y desmotivada.
To be honest, I rarely find myself sad and unmotivated.
In that sense, I’m a lucky person and I usually have a fairly positive attitude, but it’s impossible to maintain that attitude all the time.
After all, in life, there can’t be highs if there are no lows.
Qué hacer cuando estás de bajón
What to do when you’re feeling down
If you’re feeling a bit low and you’re not at 100%, you’re feeling down, and in my opinion the best thing you can do when you’re feeling down is to find comfort in the small details.
Things that make you feel at home, feel welcomed and comforted.
In my case, the silliest thing cheered me up.
As it started to get colder and colder, I simply grabbed the duvet and wrapped myself in it like a burrito.
The warmth and the soft fabric against my skin made me feel at home, super protected.
I also lit some little candles to create a warmer atmosphere, since I think the yellow candlelight is much more comforting than the white light from the ceiling.
And once the environment became cozy, I started reading a fantasy book.
Sólo necesitas saber que…
You just need to know that…
No siempre vas a estar feliz y animado.
You’re not always going to be happy and upbeat.
Sometimes you’ll have low moments and you’ll feel a bit more depressed.
But you don’t have to worry, because everything passes.
In these moments, the best thing you can do is find comfort in the little things.
And enjoy and appreciate what you normally take for granted.
Having said that, I’d like to say goodbye with the following words.
There’s nothing more precious than knowing how to appreciate the little details.
¿Cuáles son vuestros pequeños detalles?
What are your little details?
What gives you a feeling of comfort?
¿Qué os reconforta?
What comforts you?
Leave it in a comment, and see you next week.
